About UC |
UC stands for the following ideas:
- The UC smiley logo is a combination of the letters U and C, and stands for the smiles, satisfaction and happiness that UC would strive to deliver to its stakeholders.
- The "UC" put together stands for "YouSee" a hallmark of transparency and openness that the institution will uphold. "UC" & "YouSee" also stand for the organisation's commitment to show results in its work.
- The U in the UC stands for "Unlimited & United", conveying the idea that intellectual, financial, and human resources are available in plenty to address the challenges faced by the poor and disadvantaged people, but we need to apply these Unlimited resources in an United and integrated manner to achieve results.
- The C in UC stands for "Company & Care", indicating the institution's commitment to give Company and Care to the poor and disadvantaged, by improving thier opportunities for better livelihoods and enhancing quality of life.
UC is incorporated as "United Care Development Services" (UCDS), a not-for-profit company under section-25 of the Indian Companies Act 1956.

UC Mission

The current Core team consists of:
Mr. P S Gunaranjan is the founder of UC. Prior to UC, he has worked with BASIX in various functions for 7 years, where he led its micro-insurance vertical for several years, also undertaking product development in life, health, livestock, micro enterprise and agriculture(weather index based) insurance products. In his last assignment at BASIX, he led its operations in the north eastern states of India, including the setting up of the Common Services Centers(CSC) project in the state of Meghalaya. Gunaranjan was also actively involved in the development of IT applications for insurance services at BASIX and also in business process reengineering efforts, including setting up of Rural Business Processing Outsourcing (BPO) centers. As a part of the BASIX consulting services group, he has undertaken consulting assignments in the field of micro insurance in a few countries in Asia, Asia-Pacific and Africa. Gunaranjan is currently a Member of a Working Group on Agri Finance and Risk Management, for the 12th five year plan of the Planning Commission of India. He is also a visiting Faculty at Aurora's Business School at Hyderabad, where he delivers a course on Social Entrepreneurship. Gunaranjan is a full-time volunteer with UC.
Mr. R Ramanchandra Rao started his career with Accenture as Resource management specialist in HR team. Then joined Emergency Management & Research Institute ( Currently GVK EMRI) in the year 2007 as HR generalist. Key resonsabilities at GVK EMRI included managing Performance Management system and Employee welfare related initiatives. He has Masters in Microbilogy from Bangalore University and MBA from Sri Sathya Sai University , Puttaparthy.

- Reasonably good analytical and quantitative skills, and experience in using common tools like excel
- At ease with travel to different parts of the country for extended periods
- Having some work experience would be helpful
- Prepared for a modest compensation
- Multitasker (a necessity given UC's multidimensional work and its early stage of growth)
- Self Starter (should be able to plan by oneself without expecting micro level instructions and communicate well with team and partners to get tasks accomplished)

Mr. N V Ramana is a senior consultant advisor in the development and agribusiness space. He is Chairman on the boards of Indian Agri Business Systems Pvt Ltd and Indian Society of Agribusiness Professionals and serves as Board member on a number of companies in the Livelihoods Development and Financial & Investment Advisory sectors. He held the office of Group CEO at BASIX Group of Companies India between 2006 and 2008; served as Managing Director of multiple group companies during his time with the group from 2001 to 2008. He began his career with the Agri Business division of the ITC group of companies and served there in various capacities for two decades. He has a Bachelors in Dairy Technology and a Management degree from IIM Ahmedabad.
Mr. G Satish Raju is the CEO of TTK Healthcare TPA Pvt Ltd since July 2010. Prior to this role, he served as Vice President- Swiss Re Services India Pvt Ltd. He has held various consultative and managerial roles, with Swiss Re since 2001, and has worked extensively in international markets. He worked in technical and commercial functions with multiple players in the Oil & Gas Industry between 1990 and 2001. He has a B..Tech (Chemical Engg) qualification from IIT Kharagpur and a Management degree from IIM Ahmedabad.
